David Fravor, commanding officer of the Black Aces was a navy pilot of 18 years (retired in 2008) and a primary witness in one of the most credible UFO sightings in history.
Cmdr. Dave Fravor and Lt. Cmdr. Alex Dietrich were training with the USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group when a UAP encounter occurred over the Pacific Ocean.
The Boeing F/A-18E and F/A-18F Super Hornet are twin-engine, carrier-capable, multirole fighter aircraft variants based on the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. The F/A-18E single-seat and F/A-18F tandem-seat variants are larger and more advanced derivatives of the F/A-18C and D Hornet. The Super Hornet underwent U.S. Navy operational tests and evaluations in 1999, and was approved in February 2000.
Fravor and another pilot were with the USS Nimitz training in F/A-18F Super Hornets about 100 miles out in the Pacific Ocean when someone on the Navy cruiser USS Princeton contacted them by radio about mysterious aircraft.
The AN/SPY-1 radar antennas are the light grey octagonal panels on the front and starboard side of the superstructure of USS Lake Erie.
The AN/SPY-1 is a United States Navy 3D radar system manufactured by Lockheed Martin. The array is a passive electronically scanned system and is a key component of the Aegis Combat System. The system is computer controlled, using four complementary antennas to provide 360 degree coverage.
Kevin Day is a retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Operations Specialist who specialized in radar systems. He is a TOPGUN air intercept controller with more than 20 years experience in strike group air defense including war-time operations. In November of 2004, off the coast of San Diego, Kevin was a radar operator on the USS Princeton, part of the USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group.
Detect different objects performing physically imposible maneuvers (changing directions at high speeds)
Other times the objects seemed to come from space and descend to the sea level in matter of seconds
There were even occasions where some objects could be seen on the horizon, using powerful binoculars.
In the morning, the crew was preparing an air defense excercise, the day was clear and the sea was calm.
The pilots were instructed to interrupt the military excercise.
"We have a real world task"
The pilots were vectored to a different coordinates at 60 miles way
Fravor saw a big cross-like shape like if a 747 was just submerged into the water, so they thought that it was a plane crash
But when they reached a closer look they noticed something much more unusual.
Fravor described the object as a "perfect smooth white tic tac", that was slightly smaller than his plane, so it was around 40 feet long
But the shape of the object wasn't the only strange thing. The movements it performed, they didn't follow the physical laws that we know.
It bounces like a ping pong ball, changing the direction immediatelly.
Fravor first thing was about a helicopter, but the way it moves without inertia and no visible rotors, no evident propulsion system, no wing or something.
The "the tic tac noticed that the planes were there and started to imitate the movement of Fravor's plane, so it started to climb in circles".
It was a total of 5 minutes interaction with the object until it accelerates rapidly and basically disappear.
After that, both F-18 returned to the USS Nimitz and told about their experience to the other pilots onboard.
After, operator in the USS Princeton reported to spot the object again in a different location, so the next F-18 (different crew) ready to take off was on it's way to intercept the object again.
This time, the F-18 was equipped with some instruments so they actually could take a short video of the object in the air.
After that, the events and encounters stopped happening, so it was 2 weeks of unusual activity in the west coast.
Fravor: "I can't confirm or deny that this thing was from the outer space, but it was way better than our aircrafts".
